At fifteen, she miraculously escapes a serial killer and is compelled to protect other girls from this predator by calling the cops but, she’s terrified of them. Her compassion and desire to do the right thing wins out as she dials 911.
When the Oakland police show up and are more interested in Candi than in her information, her worst nightmare begins. Over the next 24-hours, held against her will, she suffers heinous sexual assaults and is gang raped twice. They let her go after issuing a convincing threat of death. Other street girls have disappeared and, she believes she will be next as she runs for her life far away from Oakland.
For years she keeps running, hustling the streets to simply survive. Her only trustworthy companion, heroin, all hopes and dreams gone. But her story doesn’t end here…
